The Jan Wellem monument in Cologne-Mülheim represents Johann Wilhelm of the Palatinate and goes back to the foundation of the Andreae family of textile manufacturers. The 3.15 meter high bronze figure created by Eduard Schmitz represents Jan Wellem in hunting clothes with boots, rifle and three-master. The statue stands on a baroque base with the Mülheim coat of arms. Under the coat of arms there are two panels with inscriptions: "Jan Wellem (1658–1716)" and "Our King 1711".

The contrast could hardly be greater: While life pulsates on Wiener Platz, a few meters further on in Mülheim's city garden there is an astonishing calm. This green heart in the center of the district is more than impressive. In the approximately 6.5 hectare green area there is a large meadow, a small forest and beautiful weeping willows on the banks of the pond with cooing water birds.
