Cycling

The planning and the start of construction were delayed by the First World War and the French occupation of the Ruhr area. The building design comes from the architect Hans Großmann and the interior was planned by Emil Fahrenkamp. Construction began in autumn 1923 and the construction work lasted a little over two years. On January 5, 1926, the town hall was inaugurated with a festive gala concert.
