This is the oldest, late Gothic half-timbered building in the city, which was built around 1490 as an elegant town house. In the 17th century the house was also known as “The Red Rooster”. From 1870 to 1938, the “Red Rooster” was the home of the Jewish Waller family.
In 1938 the half-timbering was exposed and in 1967/68 the building was fundamentally renovated by H. W. Poensgen with the reconstruction of the original cross-frame windows. ..."
