This cross was erected in 1951 in memory of four Italian prisoners during World War I (1914-1918) who were buried here until the end of the war. Their camp was 300 m further east. The prisoners died as a result of accidents or illnesses in the Hertogenwald or in the sawmill in Perkiets.
