The Hill is the longest watercourse in the High Fens. It rises from two springs near Baraque Michel and flows into the Weser after 20km in Eupen. It flows through an extraordinarily beautiful, natural and varied valley and has been a border river since time immemorial. In Roman times, the Hill formed the border between the "Civitates", the cities of Cologne and Tongeren. Later it was the border between the ecclesiastical provinces of Cologne and Tongeren, which was later replaced by Liège.
