The place name Woluekerka, Woluekerke was already mentioned around 1177. The Hof-te-Wolfskerke has always belonged to the Benedictine abbey of Ename under the Ancien Régime.

In the northwestern corner of Opbrakel, this abbey also had the seigniory of Wolfskerke, an area that was much larger than the grounds of the Hof-te-Wolfskerke and in which the abbot autonomously owned all rights. In 1571 the surface of the Court was approximately 36 hectares. In 1653 the Hof was leased by the brothers Filip and Joos de Ruyver, who each lived on a beautiful separate farm, one on the current yard, the other a little more south near the bend of the current Wolfskerkestraat.

In the middle of the 18th century, the current house and barn were built at the expense of the abbey and both historic buildings have been preserved very cleanly to this day. The stone built into the wall of the house also dates from that time, which depicts the coats of arms of the abbey of Ename and Abbot Colius.

In the French period, the whole of Wolfskerke covered an area of 41 ha. owned by the Mulle van Gent family, later living in Tielt under the name Mulle de Terschueren. In 1893 – the date is in the roof – Senator Mulle carried out grandiose plans in Wolfskerke: Using his own staff, he had ultramodern company buildings erected for that time, including a heated chicken farm, whose chimney can still be seen today. In addition, a luxurious country house was built, the "Château Mulle - popularly called "Mullens castle" - with real romantic castle allures. In 1919 mayor Lothaire Van den Bossche was able to buy everything.

The castle, which fell into disrepair, was bought a few years ago by the well-known artist Jan Fabre, who has it completely restored.

From a distance it looks like a strange building: as if a tower with battlements has been integrated into a recent house.

Reading the history confirms that this is a quite anachronistic building: the mansion dates from 1893 while the tower appears almost medieval.
