The ruins of the Martinskirche are to the east of Meckesheim. It is one of the oldest parish churches in the area and was probably built during the Frankish conquest in the 6th or 7th century. Only the surrounding walls of the square choir with a pointed triumphal arch and a window dated 1501 have been preserved of the church. The church deteriorated after the Marienkirche in the village became a parish church in the course of the Reformation in the 16th century. The cemetery around the Martinskirche was used as a burial place until 1817. In 1900 a Roman grave relief was found in the masonry of the church. The church ruins were secured in 1960 and the enclosure wall in 1997.
