Hiking

In Lorsch, as in other communities in southern Hesse, tobacco growing and cigar manufacture were important factors in the local trade for over 300 years. Tobacco cultivation began after the Thirty Years' War and peaked around 1920.
After 1950, tobacco cultivation declined sharply. Foreign tobaccos were given preference and the growers migrated to other thriving industries. The last tobacco harvest was brought in in 1999
