The Staatspark Fürstenlager is the former summer residence of the Landgraves and Grand Dukes of Hessen-Darmstadt built in 1790 in Bensheim-Auerbach on the Bergstraße. Nicely restored. There are different tours in the summer months.

Beautiful park with various older buildings that once probably served the prince as a hunting lodge. In the summer probably also the one or the other wedding takes place.

Anyone who appreciates the pictures of Monet (Impressionism) and would like to take a look back at this time is recommended to the princely camp. Especially in summer, when the avenue decorated with flowers contrasts the white country buildings, the mood strongly reminds of the light structure of Impressionist paintings. Fantastically beautiful, but also very crowded. The buildings seem to be rented to clubs and so there is often bustle, which harms this atmosphere (in my opinion).

The Fürstenlager Auerbach is an idyllic landscaped park between two slopes. Once at the top you have a great view of the surrounding meadows, vineyards and the Rhine plain.

Enchanting place in the middle of the park. The houses in the village are fabulously beautiful - with a prince's house, pastry shop and other buildings. Public toilet is also available.

Really very nice ensemble. Who would have thought that a kind of small Versailles was hiding in the Odenwald? All that's missing is a reopening of the café!

Beautifully located and the park invites you to a cozy picnic! In the small but fine restaurant you can get a typical Odenwald bratwurst with cooked cheese. 🤣 admittedly a very unusual combination for me but exceptionally tasty! Many hiking trails start from here or end here

The State Park Fürstenlager (also Fürstenlager Auerbach) is the former summer residence of the Landgraves and Grand Dukes of Hesse-Darmstadt in Bensheim-Auerbach an der Bergstrasse, built around 1790. It is subordinate to the administration of the State Palaces and Gardens of the State of Hesse. In the approximately 46 hectare park, which is laid out around a mineral well, there are stately houses, monuments and garden temples as well as a number of courtyard buildings arranged in the shape of a traditional village. The park itself is one of the early English gardens in Germany. It is embedded in the hilly landscape and is home to 50 exotic trees and shrubs, including one of the oldest giant sequoias in Germany. The garden art ensemble has largely been preserved in its original form and today serves the population of the Rhine-Main area as a local recreation area. The site was given the name Prince Camp by the local population. Since the park was not locked and was accessible even when the grand ducal family was staying, locals could observe the princes and their guests here “lying on meadows”.
