One man (almost) alone designed this pearl over decades with hard work and ensures that unique nature is preserved. Orchids bloom here in early summer - and not just them. Thanks for this commitment. And thanks also to NABU, without whom this would not be possible.

The approximately 164-hectare FFH area "Ruhlsdorfer Bruch" is located on the western border of the "Märkische Schweiz Nature Park" and is surrounded by the towns of Ruhlsdorf and Hohenstein in the north and Garzin in the south. The nature reserve established in 1990 is located in the district of Märkisch-Oderland and extends over parts of the town of Strausberg, the municipality of Garzau-Garzin and the town of Buckow. The Ruhlsdorfer Bruch includes a 200 m wide valley along the Lichtenow mill flow with the Ruhlsdorfer See and the Steigsee up to the Haussee, which was created from a glacial meltwater channel.
The richly structured depression area is characterized by an astonishing variety of different habitats in a small space. At the transition from the edge of the valley to the bottom of the valley, hedges and copses, dry and semi-dry grassland, wet and wet meadows as well as silted up water edges with alder breaks are closely interlocked.

Together with the cairns, the landscape is reminiscent of Scandinavia.
