The small town of Wustrow was founded around 1217 as a castle and served at that time to secure the shipping traffic between Salzwedel and the Elbe. It is located in the south of the district Lüchow-Dannenberg, has about 2900 inhabitants and consists of ten Orstteilen / villages and the city itself.Wustrow in the Wendland is a small nest, but it's worth a look. In addition to the but St. Lawrence Church on the Jeetzel, are in the core of some very beautiful half-timbered houses. The Museum Wustrow and an old fire station from 1888, next to the church, can be seen.Sources:

In 1691, a big fire destroyed the entire town of Wustrow, including the church, the rectory and the church records in it. The flames also fell victim to an extensive collection of barely used Wendish language, created and handwritten almost completed by the then pastor Christian Henning of Jessen.

Wustrow is a small town in the south of Lüchow-Dannenberg. There is a supermarket (Edeka), a few smaller shops and a few restaurants. The Wustrower Museum is also very worth seeing.
