Two herds of Konik horses are used in the nature management of the Webbekoms Broek. Koniks (Koń means horse in Polish) are reportedly related to the extinct wild horse, the Tarpan. However, they are actually small, very calm, good-natured, and easygoing horses that can live outdoors year-round and are therefore often used in nature reserves. The Konik horses in the Webbekoms Broek have already reproduced.

Since the end of the last century, the Webbekoms Broek has been a controlled flood area of 240 ha that protects the inhabitants of the Demer Valley against flooding. Because of its beautiful grasslands, reedlands, bushes, unique flowers and many water and marsh birds, it is sometimes given the poetic nickname 'waiting basin full of nature'...
