An open-air stage, a large grape pergola, an ecological plant pond, a petanque court, a cozy terrace, ... In the Pierkespark, the heart of the Brugse Poort beats. The park has a unique, southern atmosphere and attracts both local residents and Gentenaars from further afield.

Colorful meeting place

The construction of the Pierkespark was a subproject of the urban renewal project 'Oxygen for the Brugse Poort'. Hundreds of local residents and volunteers have literally contributed to the park. They thought about the design and, together with the artist Schéhérazade Bourahli and the Cultuurdienst, they built paths and benches in mosaic.

Vibrant and sustainable park

During the construction of the Pierkespark, attention was also paid to the environment. An infiltration basin was built under the terrace, for example. The rainwater can penetrate into the ground and therefore does not flow into the sewage system.

The thrift shop, the coffee house Trafiek with a neighborhood hall, the theater hall of 'Bij de Vieze Guests' and a Moroccan restaurant (SafiSafi -> meanwhile closed (2021)) provide a lot of life and fun in the park.
