Abraham de Winter from Breda is one of the most popular comedians of the late 19th century. With his solo performances, Abraham is considered to be the forerunner of today's cabaret. With his "character comedian" he imitated various characters such as a street sweeper, conductor or doctor.
Abraham also drew inspiration from his previous profession as a straw trader, in which he had a lot of contact with Brabant farmers. With his satirical performances and his compassion towards the suffering fellow citizen, he was loved by both the rich and the poor.

Inspired by this story, Collin van der Sluijs (NL) created a mural behind the former Stadsschouwburg Concordia. In his painting, Collin depicted a song thrush. Just like Abraham, the song thrush is known for its imitations.
