The monumental space of the former prison chapel of Merksplas colony has been used as an event location for a number of years.
The Chapel of Merksplas Colony is a combination of neo-romanticism with half-timbering
steel arched trusses resting on cast iron columns adjacent to the outer wall. This creates a 600 m2 hall church in which no pillars or side aisles are visible.
Recently, the restoration of the Landloper Chapel in Merksplas-Colonie was completed.

The Vagrant Chapel or Our Lady of Ascension of Merksplas - Colony from 1899 is a landmark in the Colony and also a starting point for many walks.
The chapel itself has a complete basement, and at the time was the storage place for winter vegetables. The chapel was desecrated in 1985. The chapel has a unique incidence of light due to the skylight that runs over the entire length in the ridge.
In normal circumstances, the tramp chapel can be visited.
