Eksterheide Nature Reserve

In this vast nature reserve (170 hectares) you can admire water birds, deer and other animals from three different observation huts. In addition, there are also (other) winged friends such as hawk, black woodpecker and the speckled skipper (day butterfly) present in the area. The ecological value of the Eksterheide will increase in the coming years through targeted interventions. So keep an eye on this piece of greenery!

There are currently works in the Eksterheide. Walking paths have been relocated, trees are being removed from the forest and new plantings have been made. Maybe something to take into account if you want to go there in the near future. The hiking trails remain accessible (to my knowledge).
