In 1910 bridge builders decided - because a "late ice age depression" was in the way - not to build an earth wall, but to build a bridge to give the underground passengers a view of the countryside. They put the station under the bridge. At the top, people should cross the park on foot, and the trains should stop below them. A modern and ingenious idea. The subway station 'Rathaus Schöneberg' is probably the only subway station with a view of the park.
