Opened in 2004, the museum extensively presents the 10,000-year history of the indigenous people of North America. The private collection of the New Yorker Gustav Heye provided the foundation. The eye-catching building and the outdoor facilities were planned by architects who themselves come from the First Nations. The organic design stands for harmony with nature, stone, colors, design are reminiscent of American natural landscapes, especially the southwestern USA. More information: americanindian.si.edu

Interesting building and free entry. I was a little disappointed with the content. Although the exhibition is very broad, it remains too superficial for my taste.
