Ehrliche Beschreibungen – was war schön, was war hart, was hat überrascht. Keine hippen Weltenbummler-Stories, sondern echte Momente.

Paths that last – not the fastest, but the real ones.
More than 65 years old. Former competitive athlete. Today long-distance cyclist and trekker. I love trails, wilderness, and surprises – challenging, adventurous, unusual. But always real.
What you'll find here: Routes I've actually ridden. Honest descriptions. Practical info. No trendy stories, but real moments.

No stops, no photos. After my tour through the southern U.S., I initially stuck to light running and some strength training. It was unbelievably cold here in Boston, it kept raining, and it really wasn’t inviting to go outside—let alone get on the bike.

But today was finally sunny and around 20°C, so

No photos today, no highlights.

It’s just really cold — around 5°C (41°F) — and so windy it almost blows you off the road.

Spring just doesn’t seem to arrive on the northern East Coast. In Boston, we’re even seeing temperatures close to freezing. Honestly, I’m not finding that funny anymore.

I basically

A short and easy ride along the coast to Jacksonville Beach 🌊

The weather was perfect today ☀️ — around 28°C (82°F) and hardly any wind 💨. At the beginning, after crossing the bridge toward Vilano Beach, you can see the ocean almost all the time. After that, the view is often blocked — either by dense

Even though this was already my third time here, it still felt surprisingly good to just walk through the city again 🚶‍♂️.

By around 10:00 am, it started to fill up with tourists 👥, but it never felt overwhelming.

Of course, I checked out some of the main sights. I skipped the old jail and the park where

First, I caught up on visiting the campus of the University of Florida — partly out of professional interest. It’s really well done: modern, spacious, and full of greenery 🌿.

And like so often on this trip, just when you think it can’t get worse than the day before, it does. Strong headwinds again, all

The day wasn’t just a 150 km (93 mi) ride — it turned into an intense fight against the headwind 💨. For most of the day, it was coming straight at me in strong gusts, even shifting from east to southeast, keeping it right in my face almost the entire time. You can clearly see that in the average speed

A route where there’s not a whole lot to say.

The first 20 km (12 mi) run along a good bike path 🚴‍♂️, set at a clear distance from the road. Once you turn further east, there’s a solid shoulder all the way. That’s also the point where you should stock up, because after that there’s basically nothing
