The area previously served as a parking lot for the old Federal President's Office until 1997. Since around 80 trees and green spaces had to be removed next to Bellevue Palace during the construction of the new Federal President's Office, the parking lot that was no longer needed was converted into a public green space in 2000/2001 to compensate.

The park at the President's Triangle in Berlin's Moabit district, between Paulstraße in the south and the railway viaduct in the north, is also ideal for runners as a link between Magnus-Hirschfeld-Ufer and Helgoländer Ufer or for those who love the riverside paths on the Spree Include runs.
