The approximately 31.5-hectare park is located on the former railway fields of the Anhalter and Potsdam freight yard on the Gleisdreieck.
The "track wilderness", denominated "unsecured" dense wilderness areas that have developed out of the old tracks, signal remnants, railway tracks and water ponds, form their own biotope.
In the north lie between the park sections the buildings and facilities of the German Museum of Technology. The city center park close to the city center has over 30,000 immediate residents.

Nice park on the old railway site. A great connection for cyclists from the center (Potsdamer Platz / Anhalter Bahnhof) to Schöneberg to Südkreuz and further along the railway line to Priesterweg towards Steglitz / Lankwitz. The view towards Potsdamer Platz is very nice, as is the crossing of the old Yorck bridges (many old railway bridges over Yorckstrasse, one or two are used for the bike and footpath). You can also watch trains here, either U up on the elevated train at Gleisdreieck or long-distance and regional trains that come out of the tunnel here in the park.
