This bridge connects Zelem (Halen, Limburg) with Webbekom (Diest) in one direction and Diest itself in another direction. The Zwart Water under the bridge is an artificial drainage channel of the brooks that lie here and further in the Demer valley (already before the confluence of Demer, Herk and Gete on the Schulensmeer). A little further on, the Zwart Water runs into the Zwarte Beek, which flows next to the path to Zelem. It is therefore wider as you can see from the viewing platform nearby.

On Saturday 17 Oct 2020, a new attractive walking route with a new walking bridge was inaugurated.

This bridge over the Zwart Water, connects the provinces of Flemish Brabant and Limburg.

The new route connects to the existing walks that depart from the Webbekomsbroek visitor center. Through the Rotbroek the walking loop connects to the walks that go from Zelem towards the Zwarte Beekvallei. The forest of the Sint-Jansberg also links up with this new walk.

The walk was also included in the brand new Merode walking network.
