The "Art Mountain" is located on a slope between the Koningsplein and the lower town. From here you have a great panoramic view of Brussels.

Originally, this was the site of the very old Saint-Roch district, which was also called the Jewish district until the fifteenth century. Between the 15th and 18th centuries, the slope was known as the 'Hofberg'. At that time, there were several palaces on the hill, such as the Palace of Nassau (1440s - around 1750), the Palace of Charles of Lorraine (1757 - present), the Granvelle Palace (1555-1931) and higher up, the Palace on the Coudenberg (mid-14th century - 1731). Mont des Arts offers one of the most fascinating city panoramas of Brussels. From the Koningsplein there is a visual axis towards the tower of the town hall on the Grote Markt. On a clear day, the Basilica of Koekelberg and the Atomium are also visible from the Kunstberg.
