Around 1900, the city leased ten acres of land "behind the slaughterhouse" to the shipping company Wroclaw. The shipping company director, however, had to answer for misappropriation in the millions and poisoned himself.
In 1906, the city invested 90,000 marks in the transshipment port. Sand was hauled out of the Neisse with a river excavator and brought by ship to Berlin. From 1910, the city managed the harbor on its own. The end came with the Second World War. Remaining from the Old Harbor are only the historic storage shed and the quay wall.

The harbor area Guben is a bank directly on the Neisse with a wide bike path, an old, modernized harbor building, as well as an old trolley, which is highly recommended as a break bench with a view of the Neisse.
