The Werder Tower (Polish: Wieża Bramy Ostrowskiej) is part of the former city wall of Gubin, a city in the Polish part of Lower Lusatia. It is also sometimes referred to as the "Ostrow Tower" or "Thick Tower".[1]

According to tradition, the tower was built around 1530. It was part of the Werder Gate, which no longer exists today, and thus of the city wall, whose construction began in 1523. In the course of urban expansion, however, the fortification lost its function over time. The walls were torn down and the building material used to build houses and bridges. The tower survived; In 1659 a clock was installed. The wooden dial has been preserved and is now in the Gubin museum chamber.

The tower is seven stories high and reaches a total height of 28.5 meters. The frieze is at a height of 23 meters. The circumference of the tower is 24.8 meters and its inner diameter is around 3.7 meters.

It can be viewed by prior notice at the Gubin Homeland Friends Association. The association is currently working to install a second clock on the south side as well.[2] Source: Wikipedia

At that time, the Werderturm was part of the city fortifications of Guben. I recommend an ascent, you have a great view over the old town of Guben.
