Hiking

The Green Belt is a section of landscape with valuable habitats along the former German-German border between Travemünde on the Baltic Sea and the border triangle near Hof. The former restricted area between East and West was almost untouched for around 30 years until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, and numerous animal and plant species found a refuge here. Today there are also numerous border museums and memorial sites along the Green Belt that commemorate the time of division.
