At the foot of the Rauscherberg, 370 meters above sea level, lies the pilgrimage site of Glosberg. While the foundation stone for the pilgrimage church in its current form was laid in 1730, the pilgrimage can be traced back to 1530.

A religious event shocked the population of the Franconian Forest on March 28, 1727: A miracle is said to have occurred in the small local chapel of Glosberg. The statue of the Virgin Mary wept bloody tears.
There is a report about this in the parish archives, which states that the miraculous image wept blood three times from the Friday before Passion Sunday, March 28, 1727, to April 11, 1727.
For the faithful population, this was a supernatural sign that disturbed and moved them deep down. For with this "heavenly" sign, a chosen place had been created in Glosberg, one that could be visited with reverence and that awakened a special expectation of salvation in people.
After this weeping image of the Virgin Mary had brought devout pilgrims from Franconian Switzerland, the Rhön Mountains, and Thuringia to the Franconian Forest village, the modest village chapel soon became too small for the crowd of believers. Therefore, in 1728, work began on building a dignified pilgrimage church in place of the small village chapel.

The pilgrimage church in Glosberg was built between 1730 and 1736 and is worth seeing.

The pilgrimage has been documented since 1530.

In 1727, it flourished again because the statue of the Virgin Mary was said to have wept tears of blood. This increased the number of pilgrims, so that masses had to be celebrated several times a day, even though the church was not yet recognized as a place of pilgrimage.
