When the church building was built is not documented, but numerous details testify to a long history. The choir room dates from around 1515 and the mechanical clock, which dates from 1787, is still in use today. There is a cemetery next to the church.

The Evangelical Church of Taubenheim is a Renaissance building from the 16th century, with older components from the previous building being included. Inside is a painted wooden ceiling. In contrast, the chancel is vaulted with a cell vault. Similarities to the cell vaults of Albrechtsburg Castle in Meißen are obvious. It is therefore assumed that a master builder who was trained by Arnold von Westfalen worked here.
