A dense floodplain forest runs along the Neetze near Thomasburg and limits the village to the west. Where the road crosses the swampy valley bottom and leads in an arc to the castle hill with its stone church, lies between mill pond and Bruchwald the Thomasburger mill. Between Burgberg and Mühle also the earliest settlements approaches of this place developed and presumably also the mill was already created in the early Middle Ages for the first time. However, it is only documented since 1373, when a fire destroyed it. Originally owned by the monastery of Rastede, it belonged to the monastery Lüne since the 15th century and became a landlord after the Reformation. In the Thirty Years' War, moving Swedes destroyed the mill, which was a grain, oil, bake and fulling mill. The long dilapidated mill was rebuilt in 1839. At that time, today's two-storey half-timbered building with a new residential building was built. In 1935, the mill received its turbine and worked with two roller mills until the 1970s. Opposite the mill is the building of the former oil mill.
