    Description

Ernst August Rex Stone on Telegraph Hill in the Breetze district of Bleckede - view from the north.

An almost man-high granite obelisk, documenting the acquisition in 1847 of the heathland sold by the Breetze farmers to the royal domain treasury by Ernst August I (King of Hanover, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg from 1837-1851). The sale enabled the farmers to raise the necessary funds to extinguish the long-standing obligations on their farms following the consolidation of landholdings in 1838. Given the subsequent reforestation of the area, the wolf's hook symbol should be seen as a mark of sovereignty within a forestry context. A nice historical point. The short steep climb to the Telegraphenber is definitely worth it. The story can be found here. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breetze
