According to legend, St. Boniface founded a chapel on the Kapellberg in Altmorschen, a Zechstein knoll rising from the Fulda valley. A wooden cross stands on the small, flattened summit, which can be climbed via a grass path leading from the northwest. In the north and east there are mining areas of a disused quarry, which are largely occupied by tree hedges. A short ascent to the summit cross is rewarded with a wonderful view of the Fulda valley and the adjacent mountain ranges.
