The “Altes Wachhaus” farm shop is part of the Haydau monastery kitchen garden, which is run by the Baunataler Diakonie Kassel e. V. (bdks), a church-diaconal social enterprise that has been operating locally as a cooperation partner of B. Braun since 2015. People with and without disabilities work in the kitchen garden. The guardhouse, which dates back to 1843, was once an administrative building for the Haydau Monastery domain. Originally it stood around 200 m away in the area of today's new hotel building. In 2014 it was rebuilt at its current location.
