Haydau Abbey is located directly on the Fulda Cycle Path. It is the best-preserved Cistercian monastery in Hesse in terms of its structure. Today it is used as a hotel and conference venue. You ride your bike through the middle of this complex and find tradition and innovation, nature and culture, down-to-earthness and cosmopolitanism all connected.

Tucked away on the side of the monastery is a small café with tasty cakes at reasonable prices (not to be confused with the hotel café).

Hiking

The Haydau Monastery is located in Altmorschen. A tour of the building complex only really reveals the grandeur of the ensemble. Monastery church, the old bailiwick and more - including the adjacent four-star hotel. There is enough to marvel at.
