Meandering Dommel

At Wijchmaal the Dommel meanders picturesquely through the landscape, bordered by green meadows and reed beds. The winding river creates small islands and rapids, which provides a beautiful scene for hikers and nature lovers.

The redevelopment of the Dommel and the Kleinbeek in the Mullemer Bemden nature reserve means great progress for the fauna and flora in this area. The Dommel will regain its natural appearance, which will improve the structure of the water. Several fish migration bottlenecks will be resolved, which will create more 'life' in and along the Dommel.
