St. John's Beheading is a late Romanesque-early Gothic Catholic parish church in the town of Salzkotten.
The first documented mention of the parish church is in the peace treaty of August 24, 1256 between Archbishop Konrad of Cologne and Bishop Simon I of Paderborn. Salzkotten was built to fortify the diocese and was to receive a parish church. Since the archive was destroyed in 1633, no further documents are available. However, it is known that the church was completed in 1275. Originally, the believers in Salzkotten belonged to the parish in Vielsen. The first pastor of Salzkotten was Joachim, the last pastor of Vielsen. He had a baptismal font from the Vielsen parish church, which was no longer preserved and was destroyed in the 19th century, brought into the church.
