The old Salzkottener oil mill from the second half of the 16th century was located in the east of the city.

The Förderverein für kulturhistorische buildings and structures Salzkotten e. V. was in 1986 the task of rebuilding a mill in Franz-Kleine-Park. He acquired the technical interior of an old oil mill from Wewelsburg and built the fully functional building with a characteristic pug mill on the "craft island". As a rarity among the already very rare oil mills should be the pressing process with two Fetskeilen and a medium release wedge.

In addition to the oil mill, a wooden shoemaker's workshop, a bakery and a wheelhouse with blacksmiths can be visited on the "craft island" in the Kleine-Park. Free demonstrations of the oil batting with a colorful supporting program take place on every first Sunday from April to October (Mills Sunday) or can be arranged by arrangement.
