The Binger crane on the banks of the Rhine was in operation for half a millennium: it was built in 1487, making it the oldest datable land crane between Mainz and Cologne on the Rhine. In 1980 it became obsolete when the bank of the Rhine was filled in because it was no longer on the bank of the Rhine.
