The seam exploration shows the approx. 35 cm thick seam Geitling 3. The tunnel extension gives an impression of the miner's workplace underground at a time when coal was still largely handmade.
After the soft coal had been loosened from the seam with the hoe and removed, deep holes had to be made in the rock with a boring bar and fist and filled with explosives.
After the blasting, the miners unearthed the rock on carts. The new tunnel section was then expanded with stamps, caps and billets.
