    Tunnel mouth hole Maximus
No information is available about the age of this tunnel; possibly it dates from the early 18th century. It belonged to the Maximus colliery of the same name. Above the tunnel mouth hole, a subsidence can be seen, which can be traced back to the collapse of the tunnel after a few meters.

"... In addition, we discover tunnel entrances again and again during the entire hike, some of them quite small and well hidden.

The 91 m long crosscut created here was created in 1849 by the Urban union across the coal layers. It was blasted with black powder through the sandstone bank under the Finefrau seam. "Maximus" did not live up to its name. No good lumpy coal was found, operations remained insignificant and were closed in 1855. From 1899 onwards the tunnel was taken over by the Maximus mine in order to carry out gleaning mining in the unmined seam parts above and below the valley floor. Due to the poor quality of the coal mined, operations remained uneconomical and after the mine field was taken over by the Ver. Hermann mine in 1904, operations were closed in 1905.
