The area along the Steinbach was previously managed as a spruce forest, the stream itself was used and expanded for the trunks of the tribes, which can still be seen in several places today. In the meantime, through renaturation measures, the valley has become a diverse habitat, especially through larger, open areas, wet meadows and swamps. A really varied path (free-roaming dogs have no business there in the core zone of the national park!).

As of June 2020: Two short sections of the path were recently laid in the lower valley because the landscape design by the beaver is progressing and in some places the water level is rising. Small losses for the hiking idyll, great benefits for nature. The alternative route in the upper section allows a nice overview of the beaver's hydraulic engineering measures from a higher point of view.

Although the old footsteps near the stream are still clearly visible: Please stick to the newly marked paths and also note the information from the National Park administration about the closure times.

The beavers do what they want here, very nice to see.

The way is always different. 😀
