Forestry penetrated deeper and deeper into the interior of the Bavarian Forest in the 18th century. For the wood drift, creek banks were fortified, canals and Klausen built. In 1860 the Reschbachklause was built at the foot of the Siebensteinkopf, at an altitude of 1130 meters. The dam is 36 meters long and dams the Reschbach up to a depth of five meters. The length of the lake is 215 meters. With the end of the Holztrift in the 1950s, the Klausen lost their actual function. The national park receives the hermitage as a cultural monument, which also provides a habitat for certain animals and plants, some of which are rare.
