The idyllic Hammerklause is a beautiful lake that - like all Klausen in the region - was artificially dammed with the help of a weir. It used to be used to transport wood by collecting the tree trunks in the lake, then opening the weir and washing the wood into the valley.

Today the lake is a popular hiking destination and a perfect habitat for numerous animal species.
