The Lauenburg lock is the most modern and longest lock on the Elbe-Lübeck canal. It is the last (first) lock to be taken on the way to the Elbe (Baltic Sea).
Between the lock Lauenburg and the Elbe are the last 1.5 kilometers of the Elbe-Lübeck-Kanal, which pull through the Lauenburg harbor. This section has a maximum speed of four kilometers per hour.

The lock of Lauenburg is located on the east side of the B209 and with the abundant traffic you usually can not get a good look at this lock. This new lock was completed in 2006 and has replaced an old one.
