    Evangelical Lutheran town church.

October 17, 1898 was a happy day for the parish of Stolpen. On this day the city church, which was so splendidly restored in 1897 and 1898, was consecrated. The consecration speech was held by Sup. Blochmann from Pirna, who based his speech on the words: "Now I want to come to you and I want to bless you."

The town church of Stolpen, also known as the parish or main church, [Stolpen used to have three churches] is partly still a monument to medieval architecture. It dates from the 15th century, is made entirely of Stolpner basalt and was designed by the Meißner Bishop Johann VI. built by Salhausen in the Gothic style. Unfortunately, fires in 1632 and 1723 destroyed different parts of the church. The oldest and most interesting part, the altar square and its surroundings, has been preserved to this day. -

A special feature of Stolpen's town church is the Protestant confessional. It, too, dates from the period after the great town fire (1723) and is intended to keep alive the memory of Protestant confession, during which the pastor and confessor sat directly next to each other in the "church father's chair."
The Eule organ (2 manuals, 23 stops) was installed in the existing organ case from 1756 during the renovations carried out between 1897 and 1900.
