Ziegenwerder is a 14-hectare river island between the Alter Oder and Oder, which has been designed as a park. The island of Ziegenwerder is located between the Alter and Neuer Oder in Frankfurt (Oder). The island owes its name to the Oder fish goats, which received their feed from here. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the people of Frankfurt spent their free time in the bathing establishments on the river, the last remnants of which had to give way in 2003 in the course of the redesign to today's Europagarten.
