The largest and the finest medieval gateway in England, Westgate Towers was built during the Hundred Years’ War (1337 to 1453) to defend Canterbury from foreign incursion. It also symbolised the wealth and importance of the city.

Great city to visit, park and ride easy and cheap. Cathedral has amazing sense of history, lots of green spaces around city, with pleasant river walk which crosses path of original Roman road, Watling Street in Westgate Gardens.

The Westgate is a medieval gatehouse in Canterbury, Kent, England. This 18m high west gate of the city wall is the largest surviving city gate in England. Built around 1379 from Kentish ragstone, it is the last remaining of Canterbury's seven medieval gates, which are still well preserved and one of the city's most distinctive landmarks.

The road still runs between the drum towers. This listed building houses the West Gate Towers Museum.
