This large filigree monument at the beginning of Eroilor Boulevard serves to commemorate the signatories of the "Siebenbürger Memorandum" of 1849. The signatories of the memorandum petitioned Emperor Franz Josef to ethnically equate the Romanians with the Hungarians. Franz Josef is said to have passed on the petition unread. The result was later legal proceedings against the signatories, all listed at the foot of the monument.
