About Theo

With a start in the sun, after which the blue sky disappears behind a dark gray mass from which a splash of water falls, in which a rainbow goes sky high and where finally the blue sky reappears. High water in the Drentsche Aa, which eagerly uses the land (restored by humans) beyond its banks. How a…

If you are in Amsterdam to work on a podcast (super fun!) about your trek along Hadrian's Wall, you can also take a tour of the city. Over the Dappermarkt, where there was little market today, and through the Oosterpark where the trees are showing off their autumn colours. Past Artis via the Plantage…

Walk through the area between Nieuwlande and Hollandscheveld. Nieuwlande is known for its resistance against the German occupation in WWII. That this was more than average is evident from the fact that the village received a Yad Vashem award in 1985. Nieuwlande and a French village are the only two villages…

Wonderful, just walking haphazardly, without a preconceived plan. Walk in the Kop van Drenthe, Roden. Start at Havezate Mensinge, across the estate of the same name, several times over and along the Lieversche Diep, through the Zuursche Duinen and through Roderesch back to Roden. Enjoy autumn colors along the way!

If you're inside, it doesn't look very attractive outside today. If you go outside, it will be fun 🙂. Provided you take the right precautions in terms of clothing, of course. Wind, rain, leaves, puddles on the path. Delicious. Get some fresh air. And - you don't expect it - you don't meet anyone. Crazy actually 🤔

Walk number 3 along the Koningsdiep, also called the Boarn. Start in Beetsterzwaag, past the Sint Hippolytus Church and hotel restaurant Het Witte Huis. Past the wood sculptures of Frisian mythical figures on the Olterterp estate, past the hamlet of Heidehuizen, over the Poost Bridge and the De Poasen…

Tour through the city, the Vincent van Gogh walk. Because it has been 140 years since Van Gogh stayed in Drenthe and because the Drents Museum has an exhibition about Van Gogh. Wall and window paintings in all kinds of places in the city and a giant Vincent on the Kop van de Vaart. Nice! And here and…

Nice walk through the hills that we have a view of from the campsite. Through the hamlet of Radnage where there is a lovely church, St. Mary the Virgin. Through Yoesden Nature Park and back via Bledlow Ridge.

Lovely walk through the English countryside around the pretty village of Turville. This area is called Chiltern, a so-called AONB: an Area Of Natural Beauty. There is not a word of a lie.

Lovely fresh winter walk through the esdorp landscape between Norg, Zuidvelde and Westervelde. Enjoyed the beautiful green villages and the light show of the sun over the winter landscape.
