About Theo

Enjoy the rain and check the water level of the Deurzer Diep. Conclusion: high. Nice to see that the area through which the Diepje meanders does its job as a water storage facility.

Nice walk through the beautiful forest of the Slotplaats, an ancient estate that was laid out in 1668. The castle Het Blauwhuis, which was built at the time, is no longer there. The castle farm has been preserved. Now you can go there for lunch, dinner or a high tea.

Zutphen. What a lot to see here! Beautiful old Hanseatic city, I was told that there are more buildings from before 1500 here than in Amsterdam. Much of it has been preserved, the old city wall also reappears in various places in the city. The Berkelpoort is impressive, somewhat reminiscent of the Koppelpoort…

Walk through the hamlet of Eleveld and around the Gat van Dries, an old sand extraction lake. And past the Lancaster Monument, in memory of the seven killed crew members of a Lancaster bomber. Someone had already lit a candle there this morning and put a flower on the occasion of Christmas. Nice.

Wonderful winter walk across Kampsheide, along the Loner Diepje and across the Balloërveld. Unfortunately only two photos, the phone thought it was too cold or something, the cold. Anyway, enjoyed the sunny and quiet winter weather.

Despite the gray day, a nice walk: at the Lauwersmeer to the new lookout tower Reiddomp.

A walk mapped out through the Drents Landscape. Starting at the Sustainability Center you first walk through the most natural parts of the Asserbos, created after a heavy storm in the 1970s. Through the Baggelhuizen recreation area. The sloping Noordesch used to be here, excavated in the late 1960s for…

Another beautiful walk through the Onlanden, a nature reserve southwest of Groningen. When the Groningen city center (and the Gronings Museum) threatened to flood due to the extreme water levels in 1998, the De Onlanden area was designated as a water storage facility. It is fed and drained by the Eelderdiep…

A short walk and therefore perhaps with the most pictures per kilometer :). So it was not so much about walking, but about taking pictures. If I was already curious about the 'Dancing trees of the Speulderbos', if a photo workshop is also organized there, I don't have to think long. So yes, many trees…

Lovely sunny walk from Esonstad over the dike along the Lauwersmeer to Ezumakeeg, where bird watchers were 'hunting' for the flying door (the white-tailed eagle) and to Dokkumer Nieuwe Zijlen. After the Christmas flood of 1717, a dike and lock complex were built here. From there to Engwierum and Ee…
