    Ferris wheel
The Bohemian Prater is a small amusement park (approx. 5000 m²) on the outskirts of Vienna, which is a popular excursion destination for families, especially with the adjoining Laaer Berg recreation area. The Bohemian Prater has several rides that are up to 100 years old. The name is derived from the large Vienna Prater.

The Bohemian Prater is located on the Laaer Berg on the edge of the Laaer Forest in Vienna's 10th district of Favoriten. The rides and restaurants are located along a pedestrian zone. The center of the Bohemian Prater is the Tivoli event center.

The amusement park was created in the second half of the 19th century. At this time, the first excursion inn on the Laaer Berg was built from the original factory canteen of the Vienna brickworks. In 1883, numerous showman families had already settled in the Bohemian Prater. Like the workers in the brick factory, these came primarily from the Austrian crown lands of Bohemia and Moravia and thus gave their name to this new Viennese attraction. In the following years there was a constant expansion of the amusement park. During the Second World War, on December 11, 1944, the Bohemian Prater was almost completely destroyed by a bomb attack. After reconstruction in the post-war years, it finally acquired its current appearance.

As in the Great Prater, there is also a Ferris wheel in the Bohemian Prater. It was built in 1988, but is only 21 meters in diameter, has 14 gondolas and is operated by the Reinhardt showman company. A special feature of this Ferris wheel is that its hub rests on a single support structure.
On May 1, 2010, the Vienna Greens set up a shuttle bus from Reumannplatz. This ran on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays until September 2010. In 2011, the local entrepreneurs set up a shuttle bus between Reumannplatz and Simmeringer Platz.

  • Typical for Vienna. Definitely recommended, especially with small children.
