For the small town of Erlach, the local church has been a symbol of the village and its inhabitants for decades, more precisely since 1951. Erlach was first mentioned in 1062 as "Sconen erlaha" ("To beautiful Erlach"). The Schlüsselau monastery had extensive tithe rights here. Erlach initially belonged to the parish of Buttenheim, then was separated by contract in 1654 and allocated to the former parish of Röbersdorf. The Erlacher mill is one of the oldest on the Ebrachgrund. The town's jewels are the small village church, consecrated in 1951, and the nearby cemetery. It wasn't until 1918 that a school was founded.
